PRESERVE THE ARTWORK FUNDRAISER **GET AN ABRAHAM LINCOLN JOURNAL** CULTURAL HERITAGE COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN FACTS AND INFORMATION: Campaign Purpose: The Antiquarian Society has led a one-time successful campaign of raising $1.2 million to purchase artwork and American historical artifacts that were given to the community by our earliest philanthropists. The items are not only important to the cultural heritage of the Green Bay area but are also important and of interest on a national level. The successful campaign was a once in a lifetime opportunity that will benefit the community by:
Campaign Timeline: The Antiquarian Society raised $1.2 million of the $1.3 million total campaign goal to meet the timeline of December 14, 2007. The collection has been placed at The Neville Public Museum.The entire collection of 69 works of art is on public display from September 20 through November 12, 2008. Free Lecture Series on the Collection October 4,11,18 & 25th. 1:30-2:30 pm. www.nevillepublicmuseum.org. Library Endowment: The Brown County Library has pledged to use the funds for an endowment which would benefit the library for years to come. The Antiquarian Society is closing in on its $1.3 million total campaign goal: Following the purchase of the artifacts, other costs will be incurred to restore and preserve them and to finance the three year pledges made by donors. The Greater Green Bay Community Foundation will continue accepting contributions on behalf of the Antiquarian Society. Campaign recognition opportunities:
We have received endorsements from: Jim Schmitt, Green Bay Mayor In December of 2007 the Antiquarian Society purchased the collection of community heritage artifacts owned by the library. They include a rare A. Lincoln signed photograph, presidential letters, paintings of local historic figures including Rufus B. Kellogg and Jean Nicolet, twenty-two oil paintings by artist Howard Pyle, oriental textiles, sculptures that were gifted to the library prior to a museum being established in Green Bay.
